Closer than a DE, safer than a straight

My husband buys these locally and uses them in Gem 1912, Junior, Micromatic, and pushbutton razors. They give fantastic, smooth shaves with no irritation. He gets 3-4 good shaves with each blade. The only downsides to SE shaving is blade selection and availability.
These are carbon steel blades, so an alcohol rinse after your hot water post shave rinse is recommended to prevent rust. These are fantastic blades.

I’ve been buying old safety razors on eBay for a few months now. I’ve bought four or five lots and ended up with four Gem razors: Micromatic, Micromatic Clogpruf, G-bar, gold Flip Top.

I had some Stanley razor blades in my garage so I tried those. They rusted after a few minutes of being in water. I tried to shave with them twice and couldn’t cut a single hair. I tried diffent angles and after about 40 attempts I just gave up and ended up with a red rash much worse than any razor burn I’ve ever dealt with. I thought I had no teqnique then read that you have to buy special blades to shave with and some aren’t made for shaving like the Stanley’s. I put off buying these blades locally for a month because I thought they would end up being like the Stanley’s.

Wow! So wrong! I just had the wrong blades. These Treet one’s don’t rust and are as easy to use as double edge ones. I highly recommend them. I had a great 2-pass shave, the quality of the shave was extremely close and without irritation.

I would compare it to a Gillette Old Type single ring or ball end open comb, Red Tip or Fat Boy at the highest setting or a yellow handle Schick Injector. Top notch and super close shave! Highly recommended. You can really feel the blade grazing over your skin. I bought these Treet blades for $4 and change locally. Really worth it to finally be able to use my vintage single edge razors. I gave four stars because the blades do discolor.
